Field note 01
PicS
One blurry photo does not entitle you to a private gallery tour.
The Exchange
Them: More pics?
Me: In profile.
Them: Got more?
Me: picS.
The Diagnosis
This is asymmetric effort dressed up as curiosity.
I have three or four photos in my profile. That is not a mystery box. That is not a scavenger hunt. That is the point of a profile. You opened the menu, looked at the pictures, decided you were interested, and then immediately asked the restaurant to bring out secret food from the back while you showed up with one dark, blurry photo that looked like it was taken during a power outage in a witness protection bathroom.
No.
If you have one photo and I have multiple, you are not in a position to assign photo homework. You may request. You may offer. You may flirt. But you may not inspect me like a used car while contributing the visual equivalent of a crumpled receipt.
The Clown Math
The problem is not wanting pics. Wanting pics is normal. Attraction matters. Verification matters. Nobody is mad at the concept of looking.
The problem is acting like looking should only go one direction.
You saw my face. You saw my body. You saw enough to decide I was worth bothering. Then, when reciprocity enters the chat, suddenly the rules become confusing.
That is not caution. That is convenience.
And the funniest part is when they are picky. Picky is fine. I am picky. Picky keeps people alive, clean, sane, and mostly out of hotel rooms with men who think “hi” is a personality. But picky only works if you are also pickable.
If you want more from me, show up with comparable effort. Do not ask for the deluxe tour while your profile is giving expired passport photo and unresolved shame.
The Rule
If you ask for more than you offer, you are not curious. You are extracting.
The Deeper Cut
This is where people pretend self-respect is attitude.
It is not attitude to notice imbalance. It is not cruelty to decline a bad offer. It is not being difficult to say, “I already showed you more than you showed me.”
Some people take self-respect as an insult because they were hoping yours had an off switch.
The Dealbreaker Line
PicS. That capital S is not petty. That capital S is evidence.
Field Guide Notes
- One photo asking for more photos: dealbreaker-adjacent.
- Blank profile asking for more photos: clown math.
- DL, no face, no personality, no pics, asking for face/body: absolutely not.
- Good game can overcome missing photos.
- No game plus no photos is not mystery. It is empty packaging.
